Because of the threat of rain, our good friends Van and Leslie Shaw have generously offered to let us move the concert from our back yard to Uncle Bill’s Music Barn, located behind their house at 15002 Louisville Ave. It’s easy to get to – just go south on Indiana Ave to 150th St and turn right (west). Go west for 2 blocks and you’re there! There is plenty of parking in the vacant lot beside the home.
Because this is now an indoor concert, you do not need to bring lawn chairs.

Our 9th Annual Harvest Moon Concert is Friday September 21st!

It’s hard to believe this will be our 9th Annual Harvest Moon Concert! It marks an anniversary of sorts for Claire and Paul, as the first one was about the one-year mark from when we started dating. Who knew that all these years later, we would be married and still celebrating love and life with our friends every Harvest Moon?!

And, of course, it wouldn’t be the same without another outstanding performance by our dear friends Mike Pritchard and Mark Wallney, who got this whole thing started in the first place with their better-than-original performances of Neil Young’s “Harvest Moon”, which they would always play with a dedication to Claire every time Claire and Paul went on a date anywhere Mike and Mark were playing. Their performance of this romantic and seasonally appropriate song sets the stage for a relaxing evening of undeniable musical and vocal talent.

So here we are at our 9th annual celebration of life, love, and friends, at the time of each fall’s Harvest moon – the full moon closest to the Autumnal equinox. Often, the harvest moon seems to be bigger or brighter or more colorful than other full moons, so it’s a great time to enjoy a romantic concert.

And it marks the beginning of the change of seasons, reminding us of the passing of time, and how important it is to share our time with those we love. There are a lot of special things about this 9th Annual Harvest Moon concert. For one, this will be our third Harvest Moon concert since we’ve been married, and the third Harvest Moon concert in our new home. Considering that our very first Harvest Moon concert was a surprise party for Claire, it’s nice how things have come full circle.

This concert is currently SOLD OUT.

Tickets: $20 each. (100% of all money received will go to our guest musicians.)

When: Friday August 10th at 7:30pm. Location address disclosed with your RSVP.

You can pay at the door the night of the concert, or if you find it more convenient, you can pay using your credit card via the Donate or Contribute link after you RSVP.

BYOB. Complimentary snacks and bottled water are provided.

This concert has been changed to an indoor location, and plenty of seating is provided. Therefore you do not need to bring any lawn chairs.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Wendy Colonna
August 10, 2018

Click here to RSVP or for more information.

Wendy Colonna is an Austin legend, and we were honored to again host Wendy in a HubCityMusic.com house concert on August 10, 2018.

One of Austin’s hottest talents, Wendy is enjoying the success of back-to-back critically acclaimed album releases. Her newest release, “No Moment But Now”, has songs simultaneously featured on Apple Music’s “Hot Tracks” and “Breaking Singer Songwriter Playlist”, as well as Spotify’s “Fresh Folk” playlist.  Wendy is garnering critical acclaim from multiple outlets including the New York Times (describing her music as “ethereal”), and she was selected as a 2017 Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk Finalist.  The Austin American-Statesman long ago recognized Wendy as “Austin’s Best Singer/Songwriter”, and that word is now out around the nation.

Expect more great news and great music from Wendy in the near future, but right now, enjoy her intimate and personal house concert while you can, because big things are on the way for this extraordinarily gifted songwriter and performer!

Thanks for supporting our efforts to bring great live music in an intimate, comfortable atmosphere! We can’t do it without your continuing support!

Christopher Williams
June 15, 2018

Claire and Paul were absolutely thrilled and honored to welcome Christopher Williams back to Lubbock for his first HubCityMusic.com house concert since 2014, June 15th, 2018.

Way back in 2011, the idea of a house concert series was just a gleam in Paul’s eye. We had our first, private, Harvest Moon concert in the fall of 2010, and Paul was thinking about hosting a public house concert series, but had not idea how to go about it.

Paul heard at the last minute that Christopher Williams was performing with Bebo Norman in Dallas, and, already being a fan of both, Paul jumped in the car and got there just as the concert started. Afterward Paul was getting Christopher to autograph a CD, and mentioned that we were interested in hosting a public house concert series. Christopher’s response was immediate, and Christopher Williams became our first official booking in this series of public house concerts we now call HubCityMusic.com House Concerts.

CW has been back occasionally over the years, and with that kind of history with him, we could not be happier that circumstances allow him to come our way again!

Touring nonstop nationwide at a pace of more than 110 shows a year, Christopher has built a faithful following of listeners around the country and is a true independent artist, having successfully published 11 CDs on his own label. He has toured all over the U.S., opening for and playing with noted performers such as Jars of Clay, Arlo Guthrie, Phil Keaggy, David Wilcox, Patty Larkin, Ellis Paul, and others.

Christopher is a songwriter, storyteller, and entertainer – offering songs that are honest and confessional, yet never overbearing; and performances that engage audiences with an appealing mix of intense passion and humor. With “lush guitar work, and sweet soaring vocals” (Boston Phoenix), CW is an accomplished guitarist. But he is also one of the few musicians who can fill a room with only his voice to the accompaniment of a masterfully energetic African djembe hand drum. It’s a sound that everyone should be privileged to experience. Simply stunning.

With his newly released CD, “Gather”, Christopher explores new musical and production horizons, while retaining the sensibilities that have endeared him to so many fans across the country. At once philosophical and poetic, these new songs also have a musicality that makes them immediately accessible and fresh at the same time.

His intimate live performances create a connection with the audience that is mesmerizing and entrancing. He is a performer that, regardless of the setting, creates an intimate feel – comfortable on stage in front of thousands, as well as in a small living room concert. There just aren’t many performers capable of this kind of connection, and if you’ve had the pleasure of attending one of his concerts, you’ll know exactly what I mean.

Danika and The Jeb
March 31, 2018

Claire and Paul were so pleased and excited to welcome Danika and The Jeb – vocalist Danika (prounounced DuhNEEkuh) Holmes and guitarist Jeb Hart – in their first HubCityMusic.com house concert appearance on March 31, 2018.

You may have heard Danika on Sirius XM’s Coffee House station or on one of 150 radio stations around the US spinning her tunes.  Or maybe you saw her opening for acts such as Dierks Bentley and Phil Vassar.  Or in theaters, wineries, clubs and living rooms around the US, UK and Europe in one of over 400 shows since 2010 when she decided to pursue music full time.

Danika joined forces with guitarist Jeb Hart, a phenomenal player who’s not afraid of shredding on an acoustic guitar.  Who ever heard an acoustic guitar sound like a Les Paul electric?  Jeb does that, among his many guitar stylings.  Jeb’s clean and sophisticated playing, paired with Danika’s smooth and soulful vocals, has created a magical combination.

Check out this short video with a few samples of their music and accolades: https://youtu.be/QVpD6D0uA3k

With all the Sirius XM exposure, and so much radio station play, Danika and Jeb are on their way to bigger places in the music business, while sharing their talent and music in our intimate, personal venue along the way.  Don’t miss this opportunity to catch these rising stars!

Here’s a cool YouTube version of their version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps: https://youtu.be/5HUydnUB6Dk

Looking forward to seeing you here!

UPDATE

Dear friends,
Danika asked me to forward this personal message to you from her.
Thanks!
– Paul & Claire

Hello friends and patrons of HubCityMusic.com House Concerts!

Thanks for letting us take 2 minutes of your time today. If you don’t know me, I’d like to change that. I make up half of the acoustic duo that performed a concert at Paul and Claire’s home on March 31, 2018. (Danika & The Jeb).

We’ve played many concerts around the United States and Europe and this was our FIRST TIME EVER in Lubbock, TX! That’s why we wanted to reach out and introduce ourselves…

So, this is the part where we’re supposed to impress you with our accomplishments, music samples, and quotes from “important people” letting you know why you should come. But, we wanted to just send you a personal note, direct from us instead. All the “meant to impress” stuff is out there and available if that’s what you want, but what we really wanted to say is this…

We realize that TIME is your most precious resource, and it’s limited. And we want to thank you for spending your time with us.

You can always expect to leave one of our concerts feeling good. We make that our point. We keep things upbeat and uplifting, but aren’t afraid of tackling real life issues that we all deal with. You might laugh at times, and maybe even shed a tear… regardless, we hope that you’ll leave having felt something through our music that is real. A true, genuine connection… that’s what we’re hoping to achieve. After all, that’s the entire reason we’ve devoted our lives to writing, touring, and performing meaningful music. You’ll be hearing our own original music, stories, and a few carefully selected cover songs as well (from the Beatles and Stevie Wonder to name a few!) Also, you can expect some phenomenal guitar playing from Jeb. Fine, you can call me biased… but I’m willing to bet that once you see Jeb play, you’ll agree with me.

My personal email is danika@danikaholmes.com. Feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions, or just want to say hello and that you got this email.

If you’d like to listen to music, see photos, videos, read a bio, etc… that’s can all be found at our website here: http://www.danikaholmes.com

We really appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedule’s to come to the show and enjoy some music! We also really appreciate Paul and Claire with HubCityMusic.com House Concerts for inviting us for a concert and letting us reach out to you directly. We so enjoyed meeting you all!

All the best!
– Danika

8th Annual Harvest Moon Concert
with Mike Pritchard & Mark Wallney
September 8, 2017

7th Annual Harvest Moon House ConcertBecause of beautiful weather, we were once again able to host our 8th Annual Harvest Moon concert outside under the full moon. It was a beautiful evening, and Mike Pritchard and Mark Wallney were in fine form with beautiful vocals and masterful guitar work!

It’s hard to believe this was our 8th Annual Harvest Moon Concert! It marks an anniversary of sorts for Claire and Paul, as the first one was about the one-year mark from when we started dating. Wendy Colonna
August 11, 2017

HubCityMusic.com house concerts was excited to again host Wendy Colonna in an intimate house concert on Friday August 11, 2017!  The weather was perfect for a backyard concert, as the entire yard was in the shade by the time the concert started.

Wendy opened strong with the song featured on her newest video release, “Girls Like Me”. (view video HERE)  The song selection was perfect for the entire concert, as Wendy played a great mix of her newest songs from “No Moment But Now” interspersed with a great selection of the strongest songs in her now-vast repertoire.  It was a perfect concert on a perfect evening, and a great reminder why we love this amazing singer/songwriter.

Wendy Colonna is enjoying the success of back-to-back critically acclaimed album releases, and as significant as that would be for anyone else, it’s just the tip of Wendy’s Good News iceberg!

Last summer she married the love of her life, Ryan Doty, and just a few weeks ago they welcomed their new son, Charlie into the world!  And between those two blessed dates, she created her newest, and most acclaimed album, “No Moment But Now”, all the while continuing to perform for enthusiastic audiences in multiple locations, including the 2017 Kerrville Folk Festival.  To say Wendy has been busy would be an understatement of the highest order, just as it would be to say she has been blessed on a personal and professional level.  She is beyond blessed!

“No Moment But Now”, has songs simultaneously featured on Apple Music’s “Hot Tracks” and “Breaking Singer Songwriter Playlist”, as well as Spotify’s “Fresh Folk” playlist.

Tori Vasquez
May 13, 2017

We are always so excited to host Tori Vasquez in a rare, intimate solo house concert! Most of you know Tori as the youngest daughter of Lubbock musicians Junior and Mickie Vasquez, and indeed Tori has made a name uniquely her own in the Lubbock music scene.

Having been pulled away from Lubbock by her burgeoning music career, Tori is now based out of Austin, with her husband Shannon Smith.  Although recently focusing on performing with their band The Battlin’ Nelsons, Tori is taking a one-time break from that format, instead choosing to come back to Lubbock to perform an intimate and rare solo house concert on Saturday May 13th, at Paul and Claire’s house.

Tori has chosen a set list that includes some old covers and originals that she hasn’t played in a long time, interspersed with some new songs you may not have heard her perform.

Join us for this rare opportunity to hear Tori solo in her home town, in an environment that is more close up and personal than any other.

7th Annual Harvest Moon Concert
Friday Sept 16th

It’s that time of year again!7th Annual Harvest Moon House Concert

7th Annual Harvest Moon House Concert
Our 7th Annual Harvest Moon house concert, featuring Mike Pritchard and Mark Wallney, will be Friday September 16th at 7:15pm.

The inspiration for this extra-special house concert is taken from Neil Young’s song “Harvest Moon”, which Mike and Mark perform better than ‘ol Neil himself. No disrespect to Neil Young, but let’s face it, Mike Pritchard’s voice is so much smoother and stronger than Neil’s warbly falsetto, and Mark Wallney’s guitar mastery is similarly superior. Their performance of this romantic and seasonally appropriate song sets the stage for a relaxing evening of undeniable musical and vocal talent.

This concert is our 7th annual celebration of life, love, and friends, at the time of each fall’s Harvest moon, the full moon closest to the Autumnal equinox. Often, the harvest moon seems to be bigger or brighter or more colorful than other full moons, so it’s a great time to enjoy a romantic concert. And it marks the beginning of the change of seasons, reminding us of the passing of time, and how important it is to share our time with those we love.

There are a lot of special things about this 7th Annual Harvest Moon concert. For one, this will be our FIRST concert in our new home, and it’s no longer Paul Johnson’s house, it’s now Paul and Claire’s house. Considering that our very first Harvest Moon concert was a surprise party for Claire, it’s nice how things have come full circle.

Another special thing about this 7th Annual Harvest Moon concert is that for the first time since our first concert, this year’s concert will be on the ACTUAL DATE of the OFFICIAL FULL HARVEST MOON! (it’s normally been one to four days before or after the actual full Harvest Moon.)

If that’s not enough, weather permitting, Paul and Claire’s house will allow us to hold this year’s concert outside under that beautiful full Harvest Moon. (we will take the first RSVPs assuming that the weather won’t cooperate, and then we will take overflow “rain check” RSVPs that will only be valid if we are able to hold the concert outdoors.)

There may be a few PROVISIONAL seats available, IF IT DOESN’T RAIN and we can hold the concert outside – CLICK THIS LINK for more concert details and to RSVP. (RSVP and advance payment are required, as this concert always sells out, so if seats are available, grab them quickly before they are gone!)  Provisional seats will be refunded in the event weather forces the concert inside.

CLICK HERE TO RSVP or for more concert information.

We are looking forward to a particularly special Harvest Moon this year! See you then!
